Carl Woods has revealed his close bond with fiancee Katie Price’s eldest child Harvey, 19, revealing he sees the teenager ‘as my own son’.

Speaking to MailOnline at the VIP Celeb MMA Party on Thursday night in London, Carl explained how he and Harvey, who lives in a residential college, FaceTime constantly.

Carl’s comments come 12 years after Katie’s ex husband Peter Andre, who shares two children with the star and helped bring Harvey up from the age of two, famously broke down on live TV when asked if he would ever let another man adopt him.

Carl, who has been in an on/off relationship with Katie since June 2020, gushed about his and Harvey’s bond, calling the teenager ‘an absolute wonderful, wonderful kid’, adding that ‘he’s a real credit to Katie.’

‘I love Harvey to bits and he’s just a fantastic person. With all his complex needs, he’s really wonderful I cannot stress to you what a credit he is,’ Carl continued of Harvey – who has Prader-Willi Syndrome, autism and blindness.

‘He’s a polite young man, very sharp and I absolutely love being involved with him. Absolutely I see him as my own son.’

‘Harvey will FaceTime me when he’s upset, when he’s happy, we always tell each other that we love each other. He’s just a fantastic kid and he deserves the world.’

Carl’s comments come after Katie former husband Peter broke down over his own close relationship with Harvey when asked about him during a live TV interview.

Back in 2010, the star was overcome with emotion when probed by Sky News’ Kay Burley about the role Alex Reid, who had married Katie just hours before the interview, would play in the lives of their children.

Peter and Katie share two children, Junior, 16, and Princess 14, while Peter was step-father to Harvey during their five-year relationship, which ended in divorce in 2009. He previously said that Harvey ‘taught me how to be a dad ‘.

Harvey’s biological father is former footballer Dwight Yorke, but he has never been involved in his care.

In the 2010 interview Peter got emotional after he was played a clip by presenter Kay Burley from a previous interview with Dwight.

In the clip, which Peter had not seen before, Dwight described Peter’s previous request to adopt Harvey as ‘disrespectful’.

An incensed Peter responded: ‘I asked to adopt him because I love him, not to be disrespectful. That angers me a little bit.’

Burley then asked how he would feel if Alex Reid wanted to adopt his children.

A clearly distressed Peter replied: ‘No one is going to take my kids away from me. And I will fight to the death for that.’

Ofcom received 881 complaints from viewers at the time, the majority of whom were concerned by the ‘intrusive’ manner in which Peter was interviewed.

Ofcom found that Burley’s interview was ‘persistent and probing’ – but not ‘bullying and intimidating’.

The regulator found it was ‘in keeping’ with the established editorial line of the program to ask Peter questions about the new marriage given that it was a major news story.

In October it was reported that Peter had called in lawyers over claims made in his ex-wife’s book, Harvey & Me.

According to The Sun, the singer told his legal team to get in touch with Katie after she claimed he had ‘no interest’ in staying in touch with former stepson Harvey.

Peter’s lawyers were reported to have sent legal letters to Katie along with evidence following the claims.

A source said at the time: ‘Pete is a great dad – he was devastated to be blocked from seeing Harvey and begged to see him more and more.

‘He’s tried on hundreds of occasions to see him. Pete is sick of Katie’s lies and being dragged into her life again.

‘He doesn’t want her talking about him. He doesn’t talk about her, she needs to stop talking about him.’

However, a spokesperson for Katie told MailOnline that Peter’s legal team had not been in touch with her.

They said: ‘I can confirm Kate has not heard from Peter’s lawyers. Everything in the book detailing Peter’s and Harvey’s relationship was cleared by legal.

‘Kate of course wanted Peter to continue his relationship with Harvey following there split, but unfortunately due to Harvey’s medical needs and the care he required this wasn’t possible.

‘We have maintained a positive relationship with Peter and will continue to do so for all those involved.’

In her book, Katie wrote that Harvey was upset when she and Peter split and even mentioning the singer’s name around her son ‘stresses him out’.

The couple split in 2009 and Peter has since remarried wife Emily and has welcomed two more children, Amelia, seven, and Theo, five.
